It's a beautiful tree, I can't remember the name, but the leaves are this colour all year round...stunning. I'm going to take another shot I think, when the sky is a richer colour, as I think a rich blue against the red would be lovely :) Thanks for your encouraging comments, I'm still very much a beginner!

Hi I think it's a Japanese Maple. According to my DH it's full name is Acer Palmatum Atropurpureum
